Yerba Buena Lofts

855 Folsom, San Francisco | South of Market | Google Map

This architecturally significant building was designed by Stanley Saitowitz and his firm Natoma Architects. It has been commended by The New York Times, Architectural Record, San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly and San Francisco Magazine. It won the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Design Excellence Award (Best of the Bay) in 2003, and The Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Architecture considered it one of the most 1,052 significant structures built between 1998 and 2003.

The boxy design and exposed concrete of the Yerba Buena Lofts makes it different from most other loft developments. It is ground up construction, but it feels like a conversion building. Outdoor spaces play a large part of the layout, and the floor plans are open and spacious, providing an opportunity for owners to express their creativity.

There are 10 stories and 200 units at the Yerba Buena Lofts. Units range from 800 to 1,500 sq. ft. (aprx). The loft kitchens feature stainless steel appliances, gray stained maple European cabinets, black granite countertops, Moen pull-out faucets, and tiled baths with vessel vanity sinks fed by Newport brass fixtures.

The Yerba Buena Lofts are located in San Francisco’s South of Market (SoMA) district, and are steps from Yerba Buena, SF MoMA and Whole Foods Market. They were developed by Ed Tansev of Tansev & Associates, Starwood Capital Group and Union Labor Life Insurance Group.
