One Rincon Hill is touted as a significant addition to the San Francisco skyline. Atop the 100-foot tall Rincon Hill near the western end of the Bay Bridge, this development will stand a total of 741 feet above sea level and will be the tallest all-residential tower in California. The Transamerica Pyramid stands 853 feet tall.

Designed by Solomon, Cordwell, Buenz and Associatesarchitects, One Rincon will be made up of two towers: the South Tower will be 55 stories high containing 368 homes and will be complete in 2008; the North Tower will be 45 stories high containing 327 condominiums and will be complete in 2009. Including 14 townhomes built on a podium, the entire $290 million project will contain 695 homes. Units range from junior 1-bedrooms at 613 sq. ft. (approx) to a dozen 3-bedroom deluxe condos at 1,967 sq. ft. (approx).
Common area features include a swimming pool, sun deck, health club, hospitality room, concierge services, valet parking and room for 455 cars.
Built on the site of the Bank of America Clock Tower, One Rincon will feature two slender towers with a “footprint” of only 9,800 sq. ft. Engineers have assured the city that construction will be two times stronger than required by the building code. The interior of the building is built around a concrete and reinforced steel core anchored in a foundation 12 feet thick.
This is the first building in the United States to have a liquid tuned mass damper. It is designed to reduce sway from earthquakes and powerful Pacific winds. As the wind moves the building one way, the motion of the water in two large tanks atop the building will roll in the other direction, causing the building to move less and the inhabitants to feel less sway.
