Homes on Esprit Park

Esprit Park is a new 142-unit condominium complex, but the original building is rich with history. It was built in 1906 to serve as the Schilling Wine Cellars after their original location on Brannan was destroyed in the great earthquake and fire. It was converted into the Esprit company headquarters in 1972. Finally, the structure was converted into the Homes on Esprit Park in 2006.

Designed by Jon Worden Architects, the Homes on Esprit Park were careful to reclaim the brick and massive douglas fir timbers that were part of the original structure. They added sustainable materials such as double-pane thermal windows and efficient in-floor hydronic heating systems. Furthermore, a large percentage of the building’s concrete and steel structure consists of recycled components.

There are 25 floors plans and 3 separate buildings. Homes at Esprit Park surround landscaped courtyards, which were also designed to be sustainable. This includes permeable paving, captured storm runoff, dry garden strategies, low-water plant species and a water-efficient irrigation system. These courtyards are also beautifully designed, featuring a reflecting pool with mature redwood, aspen and bottlebrush trees.

The location of the Homes on Esprit Park is ideal: it’s next door to a community park, a few steps from the up-and-coming Dogpatch neighborhood, and is an easy commute down San Francisco’s newest light rail, the T-Third line.
