The land located at 520 Chestnut offers great San Francisco history. From 1900 to 1905, it held the two-story wood-frame home of Empire Malt House owner Joseph Schweitzer, who chose to live next door to his beer factory. The building burnt down in the 1906 fire and was never rebuilt.

After remaining vacant for many years, the site changed owners 13 times between 1922 and 1936. At various points, the site served as a garage for U.S. Forest Service vehicles, a liquor warehouse, and by 1986 it was a manufacturing site.

In 2006, 520 Chestnut was developed into 20 condominiums done in a very modern style. However, the developer preserved the two-foot thick concrete manufacturing warehouse façade.

Located in San Francisco’s North Beach, there are 1- and 2-bedroom floor plans, ranging from 850 to 1,400 sq. ft. (aprx). Individual units at 520 Chestnut include fireplaces, radiant heat, concrete floors, tall mahogany doors and gas fireplaces with Carrera marble surrounds.
